MSMS Students Headed to Science Olympiad National Tournament

Congratulations to the MSMS Science Olympiad team who placed first overall in this year's Mississippi Science Olympiad. The win allows them the opportunity to compete in the Science Olympiad National Tournament at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

"Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of team events," said Dr. Bill Odom, MSMS faculty sponsor for the team. "These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology."

MSMS competed in all 25 events at the Science Olympiad, which was hosted by The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. There were 17 high schools making up 20 competing teams, as well as 16 middle schools, making up another 20 teams. MSMS received first, second, and third place medals in 13 events.
