The Iodine Clock Reaction

This might look like magic, but it isn’t. Students in Mr. Bratton’s and Dr. Morgan's AP Chemistry classes experimented with the iodine clock reaction, a classic example of chemical kinetics. Two colorless solutions are mixed together and after a certain reactant is used up, a dramatic color change occurs. Students in the class experimented with the factors that affect the rate of the reaction in labs this week.
