The new student folk ensemble “Matryoshka” debuted at a gala fundraiser at the Mississippi School for Math and Science on Saturday, Nov. 2. The ensemble, whose name refers to a wooden nesting doll typical of Russia, performs Slavic songs and dances as an extension of language and cultural studies in classes taught by MSMS foreign language instructor Margaret Mary Henry.
