The Russians are Coming!
The new student folk ensemble “Matryoshka” debuted at a gala fundraiser at the Mississippi School for Math and Science on Saturday, Nov. 2. The ensemble, whose name refers to a wooden nesting doll typical of Russia, performs Slavic songs and dances as an extension of language and cultural studies in classes taught by MSMS foreign language instructor Margaret Mary Henry. MSMS is the only high school in Mississippi that offers Russian.
