In 2013, at the urging of several individuals involved in Mississippi gifted education, MSMS developed a one-week, tuition-based summer enrichment program to encourage academically-talented middle school students to make even greater strides toward academic excellence. Relying on the resources and lessons learned from MSMS’s long history of effective summer camps and years of being Mississippi’s only public, residential high school for academically-talented students, our goal was to offer a program to provide a high-quality, residential experience that is both educationally sound and highly motivating. Although the residential nature of the program made it more expensive, it also enabled us to include students from across the state who would otherwise have had no access to such programs.

The program has now been extended to two weeks. One week for rising 7th and 8th graders (June 11-16, 2017) and another for rising 9th and 10th graders (June 18-23, 2017). Student capacity for the camps is 60 and 90 students, respectively. The $700 tuition includes housing, all meals, and all needed supplies; and we are working to identify additional sponsors who can partner with the MSMS Foundation to provide financial assistance for deserving students who would be unable to attend without it.

The priority deadline for returning completed applications and requests for financial assistance (if needed) is March 31, 2017; but courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Financial aid instructions can be found here or by clicking the "Financial Aid" button.
