Classical Literature I

Taught By: Dr. Scott Curtis
Class Length: One Semester
Topics Covered: The Iliad, The Odyssey and The Aeneid.
 Prerequisites: None

Would you like to read stories about gods, goddesses, monsters, and heroes? If you would (and who wouldn't?) then Classical Literature I is the class for you. In the last book of The Iliad, you will watch the fierce Achilles, in one of the greatest scenes in all of literature, soften and begin to feel compassion for his most hated enemy. In The Odyssey, you will follow the clever Odysseus on his many adventures as he returns from the Trojan War to his wife and son. And in The Aeneid, you will feel the weight of duty on Aeneas, as he fulfills his destiny to become the father of the Roman people. The content in this class is so rich that it practically becomes a course in cultural literacy.
